The University of Graz, Institute for Musicology is filling a

University Assistant with doctorate (30 hours a week; fixed-term employment for the period of 6 years; Envisaged Job Starting Date 01 October 2013 )

Job specification:
independent research and prolific publication activities
Writing a Habilitation (second book) possible and welcome
Intependently design and teaching courses
Provide support for students
Participation in administration/organization of the department, academic committee work and in evaluation activities
Application for third-party funds are welcomed and will be supported by the management of the Institute for Musicoloy

>Professional qualifications:
Doctorate in musicology (PhD, Dr. phil.)
Research focus on Popular music/Pop Music from the 19th to the 21th centuries)
(Concept) draft of a Habilitation. (The subject of Habilitation has to
differ from the doctoral thesis) desirable
Knowledge of musicological relevant software applications
Proven methodological interest in cultural studies and/or cultural history
Experience in publishing scholarly texts
teaching experience (desirable)
Administrative experience (desirable)

Personal profile: communication skills, organizational skills, ability to work in team, knowledge of principles of teaching.
Language skills: Proficiency in English and basic knowledge of a Romance language or a Slavonic language. Applicants whose native language
is not German will be required to acquire language skills in German sufficient for the administrative tasks in the university and for support
of students within one year. Teaching in English is possible. Willingness to interdisciplinary cooperation with scholars of other
departments

Classification:
Salary scheme of the Universitäten-KV (University Collective Agreement): B1

Minimum salary:
The minimum salary as stated in the collective agreement and according to the classification scheme is EUR 2536.30 gross/month. This minimum salary may be higher due to previous employment periods eligible for inclusion and other earnings and remunerations.
